Vineyards

Ronco Margherita’s vineyards are located in three distinct areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia: this peculiarity is one of the greatest assets of the company. It thus contains in its wines characteristics and typicality of three very different zones, each of them so important for the Friulian wine tradition.

Tenuta di Pinzano al Tagliamento

Ronco Margherita headquarter is located in the ancient estate of Pinzano al Tagliamento, in the foothills in the province of Pordenone.
Our winery is located at the beginning of one of these headlands: Col Colat.
The vineyards are divided into small plots of land and they interchange flat areas with soft slopes in the area between the hill and the Tagliamento, the main river located less than one kilometer from winery.
Other watercourses flowing in Pinzano are Arzino stream, Gerchia stream, rio Rugo (roggia di Valeriano), Pontaiba stream and Cosa stream.
Altitude of our municipality varies from a maximum of 454m a.s.l. to a minimum of 119m a.s.l. , the soil is mainly composed of clays and conglomerates, thanks to the proximity of Tagliamento river, which provide the wine a very high overall quality.

Tenuta Grave del Friuli

In Dandolo, in the municipality of Maniago, the vineyards are located about 200m a.s.l. and the landscape is surround by the mountains of Natural Park of Friulian Dolomites.
In this area after the Second World War, the Istrian expats obtained by Administration of Tre Venezie 10 hectares for each family, a house and some animals.
Here we are up of the “V” formed by the Cellina and Meduna steams, where their waters sink in an aquifer. It is a specific event that creates a unique lunar landscape called Magredi, which means ’poor lands’.
This alluvial soil made of limestone and dolomitic rocks, is suitable for white and aromatic wines and can produce good quality thanks to the stony ground that during the day reflects the warmth and light needed for the grapes ripening, and during night it returns the heat collected in the sunniest hours.

Tenuta Colli Orientali del Friuli

In the area of Colli Orientali del Friuli, the soil consists of a stratification of marl, a calcareous clay and sandstone, and so calcified sands rich in silica, which takes the name of ponca. This stratification took place in the Eocene era. Here Ronco Margherita owns 8 hectares; with the acquisition of the Rieppi Company in Albana di Prepotto it has added a further piece to the search for excellence by expressing itself with two great Friulian native wines such as Schioppettino and Tazzelenghe.
